Rare Swiss edition that contains the philosophical writings of the Chancellor d'Aguesseau. These are 48 letters dealing with different topics of interest, including the creation; the movement of the planets; freedom; the infinite; the moral and discussing the theses of the most eminent philosophers of the time, among which Pascal; the last volume is devoted entirely to the reflections on Jesus Christ.

Henri François d'Aguesseau, 1668-1751, Jansenist, of Fresner ladies, French magistrate, was Chancellor of France from 1717 to 1722 and from 1727 to 1750. He had a major role in the administration and management of the French policy, and entertained relations with intellectuals and erudites fascinated by Diderot and d'Alembert, in 1746, in his function of Guard of the Seals, signed the "Privilege" Encyclopedic. Nice specimen.
