Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca 300 BCE to 300 CE. A sweet and petite pottery Chinesco standing female figure with a characteristically quasi-triangular visage embellished with slit eyes and mouth, a protruding curved nose, and striated red face paint/tattoos. She stands with legs apart, knobby knees, and perhaps most intriguing, nubbin arms that were most likely attenuated so as to accentuate her voluptuous breasts, thus placing the emphasis on her fertility. A nice miniature example from this ancient shaft tomb culture! Custom stand. Size: 2.75" H (7 cm); 3" H (7.6 cm) on stand
