Description
Handcrafted antique glass beadwork on green silk with deep brown silk velvet applied to muslin with scalloped edge design over pocket and continued on pocket flap. In the tradition of Iroquois beadwork floral motifs made to appeal to the European fashion sensibilities of the mid to late 1800's. This beautiful beadwork is limited to one side of this reticule with a plain muslin back and no draw string or handle implying the intention of the wearer would be to use this as a victorian era pocket accessory worn on a belt or sash. Condition is well preserved for it's age with color loss to green silk and worn pile areas on the velvet. The edge bead work has a few missing sections with loose threads noted. This antique craftwork would benefit from careful preservation and or restoration. 5 1/2 in x 5 3/4 in
