Two 19th century American leather Fire buckets with the original polychrome painted decoration. From the "Mutual Fire Society", bucket #1 "NathE Howard" and #2 "James Bowers" both dated "1823" verso. Wear and craquelure, minor loss to the decoration, one lacks handle, the other appears to have a restored cover on the rope handle. Each approx. 14" high. ESTIMATE $2,000-3,000 pair
