Description
Bactria-Margiana (BMAC), modern day central Asia, ca. 3rd to 2nd millennium BCE. This is a bronze axe head with a characteristic curved shape and narrow socket; one end flares outward while the blade has a curved edge. Central Asia was a crossroads during this time period; people here were influenced by Iran in the west and the Indus Valley civilizations like Harappa in the east; however, they had their own distinctive bronze style. Size: 9.5" L x 1.9" W (24.1 cm x 4.8 cm)

Provenance: Ex-Estate of John Piscopo. Mr. Piscopo was one of the largest collectors of ancient weapons in the US with a collection that spanned all cultures, all ages.

Condition
Small speckles of pale green patina, but by and large this piece has a reddish color to its metal exterior. Shape is clear with wear to edges.
