Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 200 BCE to 200 BCE. Most collectors of Pre-Columbian pottery are familiar with puppies coming from the Colima region. This rare dog hails from Jalisco and while similar to a Colima dog, there are subtle differences, mainly in its visage. Formed from hollow-molded pottery and slipped in creamy hues, this example stands on all fours with an elongated snout, open mouth, perky ears, slitted eyes, and an upturned tail. Size: 5.75" L x 4" W x 4" H (14.6 cm x 10.2 cm x 10.2 cm)
