Description
ENGLISH AND WELSH CERAMIC PITCHERS, LOT OF TWO, comprising one paneled pitcher with low belly, molded floral design on half of panels and polychrome-painted flowers between; one paneled, octagonal pitcher with polychrome and lustre decoration. Unmarked. Swansea and other areas. Circa 1840. 4 7/8" to 8 3/4" H.
Very good condition. Minor expected wear, mostly to edges of handles, smaller pitcher has several flakes on rim.
Literature: Parallel small pitcher as in E. Morton Nance - The Pottery & Porcelain of Swansea & Nantgarw, plate LXVII (K).
Provenance: From the personal collection of George and Mickey Deike.
