NEW MARKET, SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA EARTHENWARE / REDWARE JAR, lead-glazed, approximately three-pint capacity, medial-belly form with thin, flanged rim and pronounced foot, unglazed under base. Kiln reduction resulting in a mottled orange and green color. Probably John George Schweinfurt (1825-1907), possibly John G. Coffman (1803-1889), New Market, Shenandoah Co., VA. 1850-1880. 7 3/4" H, 5" D rim, 3 3/4" D foot.
Undamaged with light medial wear.
Provenance: From a Rockingham Co., VA estate collection started in the 1950s.
