WENGER (1900-1988), ROCKINGHAM CO., SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA EARTHENWARE / REDWARE MINIATURE / TOY ARTICLES, LOT OF TWO, lead-glazed, each having periwinkle blue hand-painted tri-dot and feather-like designs to one side, comprising a bulbous form pitcher and an ovoid form jar. Each having hand-brushed "Made by / Katie Wenger / 1965" to underside. Katie Wenger, Rockingham County, VA. Dated 1965. Jar 3" HOA.
Provenance: From the collection of Dr. Scott H. Suter, Bridgewater, VA.
Catalogue Note: A handwritten note accompanying the pitcher reads: "This pitcher was made of clay from the Emanuel Suter homestead."
Katie Ethel Wenger was born in 1900 at Edom, Rockingham County, Virginia to Jacob C. Wenger and Susanna Virginia Suter Wenger, daughter of the potter Emanuel Suter.
