BELL FAMILY, PENNSYLVANIA / VIRGINIA STONEWARE ARTICLES, LOT OF TWO, salt-glazed, comprising a "1" gallon capacity mark jug stamped "SOLOMON BELL / STRASBURG / Va", and an approximately half-gallon jar stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO", cylindrical form with squared rim, and band of incised sine waves to shoulder. John B. Bell (1800-1880), Waynesboro, PA; Solomon Bell (1817-1882), Strasburg, VA. 1850-1882. Jug 10 3/4" HOA, jar 7 3/4" H, 6" D rim.

Mostly undamaged, jug having minor flake to base edge; jar having hairline extending from base to mid-body and flake to rim, possibly as made.
