STAMPED "J. M. HICKERSON / STRASBURG VA.", SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, "2" gallon capacity mark, cylindrical form with square rim. Brushed cobalt dropped feather repeated five times below rim with unusual allover polka dot decoration. The pottery of James M. Hickerson (1833-1902), Strasburg, VA. 1875-1890. 11" H, 8 1/4" D rim.
