Description
SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA STONEWARE MINIATURE / TEST CROCK, salt-glazed, wide-mouth form with an incised ring below the thin, flanged rim and a beveled edge to foot, incised "Not / mixed / at / all" under base. Used as part of a test when trying new clay sources or different mixtures of clay. Probably Shenandoah or Rockingham Co., VA. 1860-1890. 2 5/8" H, 2 1/2" D rim, 1 1/2" D base.
