Description
Northern Italy, Etruria, ca 4th century BCE. Lovely matched pair of bucchero-ware pottery oinochoe made by the same potter and found in the same tomb! Each in stocky form of relatively heavy clay, trefoil spouts, rounded handle below two raised appendages, body decorated with circular impressions forming 2 chevrons and one circle - perhaps indicative of the maker. Size: 7.375" H (18.7 cm)
Provenance: Ex: Porter collection, Chicago, IL acquired in the 1960's.
