Description
Northern Italy, Etruria, ca. 5th century BCE. A wonderful highly polished bucchero amphora of the Nikosthenic type - so named from the Greek Attic pottery who "invented" this style with wide strap handles. Small foot, bulbous base with incised lines, thin neck with wide rim and twin strap handles. A beautiful ancient vessel! Size: 5.25" W x 7" H (13.3 cm x 17.8 cm)
Provenance: Ex: Porter collection, Chicago, IL acquired in the 1960's.
