Description
A Japanese Meiji period silver bowl of circular form, having a lobed rim and decorated in high relief with a continuous scene of water irises against a hammered ground, the whole raised on a tall tri-form bamboo stalk base. With Jungin mark alongside further character marks. Diameter measures 7 1/4 inches (18.5 cm), weight 25.0 ozt (777.6 grams).
Appears in overall fair condition displaying general surface scratches, marks, surface wear and rubbing, all commensurate with the age and use. Heavy tarnishing throughout and it would benefit from a clean and polish. There are numerous small dents, bruises and heavier scratching to bowl interior. Also a few small dints to bowl exterior at water. The base appears okay with no distortion. The Japanese marks are clear.
