Description
A PAIR OF JAPANESE IMARI PETAL RIMMED DISHES, MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY, each painted in traditional colors and of circular form with petal rims above tapering lobed sides, centering a long leaf and blossom enameled conforming reserve, within shaped rectangular cavetto panels of stylized fan shaped reserves with butterflies fluttering over flowering foliage, alternating colorful diapered and gilt scrolling leafy stemmed panels interspersed with peony blooms, reversing to sides of underglaze blue kites above a short conforming double ringed foot. Diameter: 10 3/4"
