Description
JAPANESE EXPORT MEIJI PERIOD SILVER BOWL, two-pieced construction, consisting of an ovoid form well with quatrefoil petal rim, sitting in a base with repousse and chased decoration of irises rising from scrolling water, resting on an ovoid foot, base engraved monogram. Base impressed with a jungin silver mark below an unidentified maker's mark. Total weight: 19.29 ozt. Late 19th/early 20th century. 4 1/2" HOA, 6 1/2" x 5 7/8" OA rim.
Provenance: From the private collection of Jon D. Reiman, Bowie, MD.
Condition
Good to very good visual condition with some wear, surface scratches, each piece with a few repairs, scattered dents and bending notably to rim on base, well not properly fitting into base with a split to side flange, underside of base with a buffed-out area.
