Description
Pre-Columbian, Gulf of Mexico, Classical Veracruz / Remojadas culture, ca. 400 to 750 CE. This is a hollow pottery figure depicting a figure -- probably a woman, based on clothing -- wearing a poncho and skirt, very large earrings, and a headdress, with arms extended, seated as if on a swing. There are similar pieces held in the National Museum of the American Indian and the Veracruz Museum of Anthropology. Size: 4.5" W x 4.5" H (11.4 cm x 11.4 cm).
