Rome, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A gorgeous, free-blown Roman glass inkwell of soft blue-green hues with areas of silver and rainbow iridescence, its body presenting a graceful form with a weighted bottom that corsets inward to a tubular neck that resolves to a splayed, flattened rim. Size: 2.875" W x 2.75" H (7.3 cm x 7 cm)
Provenance: Ex-private New Jersey collection acquired in 1980's.
