Item Details

Description

The Meiping is richly painted with nine five-clawed dragons in vibrant cobalt all above crashing ocean covering entire vase around, scholar rocks rising in ocean around base. The neck is painted with lotus lappets, Ruyi scrolls and wide banana leaves. Written on the underside base is an under-glazed blue Qianlong reign mark in archaistic script. Original wood stand attached, 13 1/2" h.

Provenance: Estate of J. T. Bradbury, Charlotte, NC. Purchased from antique shop in Leicester, UK, 1978.
