A superb double roll Tevau, feather money roll from the Solomon Islands/ Santa Cruz.Consisting of bark and 50.000+ feathers of the scarlett honey eater bird (myzomela cardinalis), the tevau was used as currency for important obligations and marriages.This piece is dating to the first part of 20th century.Dimensions are approximately 40 x 80 cms and 5 cms in width.Provenance is ex coll. Nicolaï Michoutouchkine, famous French Russian painter and co-founder of the Museum of Oceanic Art in Vanuatu.
