Description
Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. This is a small fragment of a blue-green pottery amulet that currently depicts a standing Osiris from the waist up with a finely carved hand atached to the back of his head. Osiris was the Egyptian god of the afterlife. Size: 1.1" L x 1.1" W x 2.25" H (2.8 cm x 2.8 cm x 5.7 cm).
Provenance: Ex-private M. Reniger collection, Chicago, IL.

Condition
The amulet is a fragment; there is a hand attached to the head that is the only thing remaining from what the figure has been broken off of. The piece has been attached to a stand with glue. However, the carving of Osiris is clear.
