A LARGE ICON OF THE SMOLENSKAYA MOTHER OF GOD WITH SILVER-GILT OKLAD Russian, 17th century (icon), Moscow, Aleksey Fedorovitch Frolov, 1850 (oklad) Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. The Virgin Mother depicted gently holding the Christ Child in an erect frontal pose holding a scroll in one hand and blessing the worshippers with his right hand. The background and border decorated with geometric pattern in the gesso ground. Overlaid with a gilded silver oklad richly decorated in repoussŽ and chasing with shells, intricate, foliated scrolls. (Ikone), Moskau, Aleksej Fedorowitsch Frolow, 1850 (Oklad) Laubholz-Tafel mit zwei RŸckseiten-Sponki (verloren). Kowtscheg, Lewkas, Eitempera. 44 x 38 cm. Punziert mit Stadtmarke, Beschaumeisterzeichen, Feingehalt '84' und Meistermarke 'AF' in Kyrillisch. Halbfigurige Darstellung der Gottesmutter. Auf ihrem linken Arm hŠlt sie den Christusknaben, der seine Rechte im Segensgestus erhoben hat und in seiner Linken eine geschlossene Schriftrolle hŠlt. Hintergrund und Rand sind ornamental, plastisch gestaltet. Das Oklad aus krŠftig getriebenem, vergoldetem Silber ist entlang des Randes mit Muschelmotiven und Blattranken auf punziertem Fond verziert. Farbe des Hintergrundes und Randes abgenommen, Restaurierungen, Oklad im Randbereich besch.
