Item Details
Description
Native American, Southwest, Chaco Canyon, Anasazi, ca. 1000 to 1200 CE. Hand built of white clay, constructed using the coiling-and-scraping technique, beautifully decorated on the interior with registers of zigzags in red slip on white ground, designs ancestral to the Hopi. A wonderful piece of visual culture from the Ancestral Puebloans, particularly as the introduction of pottery, probably from the south, marked the origination of the culture that we call Anasazi. Size: 7-1/4" in diameter x 3"
