JAPANESE HOME SHRINE - 'Butsudan' Altar Shrine containing a 'Gohonzon' icon of Buddha on a painted wood disc, the case in pine with painted swastikas on the front, silvered copper chrysanthemum latch and plate hinges, the interior of the doors painted with repeating Tokugawa samurai mons. Meiji period, late 19th c. 21 1/2" x 15" x 2 1/4", 14" x 14 3/8" disc (which no longer fits easily into the case.)
