Description
A pleasing Colima seated male figure, West Mexico, c. 100 BC - AD 250, wearing a low headdress, his left hand supporting a cylindrical jar which rests on his left leg, right arm pendant at side. The face is nicely rendered with large angular nose, coffee bean eyes and pursed lips. The surfaces with nicely burnished orange slip and attractive mineral deposits. H: 7 1/2 in (19 cm). Ear and end of left leg professionally re-attached. Ex Dr. John Hilsabeck estate, Orange County.
