Description
3rd century BC-3rd century AD. A substantial redware pottery vessel in the form of a seated male figure with long torso, short legs bent forward with collars to the ankles and stumped feet; both arms raised forward, each holding a short tubular object; short neck, head with thin lips, triangular nose, applied discoid eyes and rectangular pierced ears; to the head a crested headdress, to the back an ogee-shaped plaque from which protrudes a large round-section spout. 2.2 kg, 33cm (13"). Property of an American gentleman; acquired 1970s-1990s. [No Reserve]
