9th-12th century AD. A pewter pilgrim badge of the face of Christ, also known as the Mandylion, with radiating lines to the side and top of head forming a cross; surrounded by round setting; remains of pin to the back. 0.73 grams, 13.27mm (1/4"). Property of a Kent mudlark; found on the Thames foreshore at Billingsgate, London, UK, in the 1980s.
