Description
Chinese, late 19th century Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). "Phoenix & Crane", pigment on silk, apparently unsigned. A large and well painted scroll depicting a grouping of birds on a tall and flowering tree, the group with a large phoenix perched at center just in front of a similarly sized crane or egret, the tree above holding many smaller phoenixes, possibly fledglings, small black birds, small white birds, and white and pink flower blossoms, a pool of water at lower right with two fledgling phoenixes swimming, the painting to a carved wood frame with shaped gilt corners. Framed approximately 76" x 35.5". Sight size approximately 74" x 33.5".
