Description
Late 19th Century Chinese Grey-Green Nephrite Jade Archaic Form Vessel. Of classic bulb form and rectangular section, the central bulb incised with masks, the high flared foot and neck incised with "stiff leaves" with banded and keyfret motifs; the translucent stone thinly carved and of greyish-green color with white and russet flecking, wood stand. Measures - 7" high. Comparable example - See another nephrite vase, also with flanges, and of pale green color, but with loose rings and a cover, sold Butterfield & Butterfield, San Francisco, March 19th, 1991, lot 648, for $3750; also a nephrite vase, height - 7 1/8", Butterfield & Butterfield, San Francisco, June 24/25, 1992, lot 789.
