Description
Pre-Columbian, Chiriqui, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. This striking gold snuff tray was cast in the form of a pair of gleaming tree frogs inspired by those inhabiting the lush rain forests of Costa Rica and Panama. Cast by the lost-wax or cire perdue process, the composition of the piece is elegantly balanced and the myriad detail from the striated markings on the heads and hind legs to the bifurcated tongues and bulging eyes makes this piece come to life! 12.5 grams of high karat gold. 1-3/4"L x 15/16"W.
