Pre-Columbian, Central America, Panama, Veraguas culture, Period V to VI, ca. 700 to 1500 CE. A stunning gold pendant in the form of a frog. With large paddle feet, bent legs showing he is ready to leap, large eyes acting as bells with the insertion of small stones inside the hollow cavity and saurian forms attached infront of his mouth. Reverse has two large suspension loops, each showing anticipated wear. Weighs 81.6 grams. Size: 3.5" L x 3.5" W (8.9 cm x 8.9 cm)

XRF analysis shows the following results: proper right back fin (top): 64.51 gold, 31.63 copper, 3.217 silver; proper left back fin (top): 60.88 gold, 34.80 copper, 3.961 silver; middle of snout (top): 65.48 gold, 29.35 copper, 4.09 silver; proper left saurian-whisker thing (bottom): 62.24 gold, 32.86 copper, 4.624 silver. All are consistent with ancient gold items from this region.
