STAMPED "D. H. HENKEL", PAGE CO., SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE CROCK, salt glazed, approximately half-gallon capacity. Cylindrical form with a squared rim and incised ring below name stamp. Unusual brushed cobalt double-scroll decoration repeated three times below shoulder. Ship decals added later and should remove easily. David H. Henkel's Stonyman Pottery, Page Co., Virginia. Circa 1870-1884. 7 3/4" H, 5 1/8" D rim.
Provenance: Recently discovered in a local estate.
