DB 117652776 . - Die ausführliche und photographisch eindrucksvolle Sammlung dokumentiert die umfangreichen Expeditionen und Reisen des Unternehmers und Politikers Albert Steche um die Welt, die mit Schiff und zu Land unternommen worden. Darunter sind vor allem seine Reisen nach Afrika und Nord- und Südamerika von herausragender Bedeutung, die er teils gemeinsam mit bekannten Persönlichkeiten aus Militär, (General von Rotenhahn, Leutnant Teuffel von Birkensee), Politik und Verwaltung (Landrat von Miquel) und bekannten Unternehmern (Curt Thorer) unternahm. Die Bände enthalten neben den Expeditionszielen zahlreiche photographische und lithographische Panoramen u.a. von Kairo, Dar-Es-Salamm, Nairobi und beeindruckende Amateuraufnahmen lokaler indigener Bevölkerung, Stammeskulturen, Eisenbahn, Architektur etc. Seine Afrika- und Südamerikareise wird durch eine Abschrift eines 407 Seiten starken Reisemanuskripts (Afrika) und eine 13 Seiten starkes Typoskript zusätzlich dokumentiert. Stationen waren u.a. Barbados, Brasilien, Uruguay, Argentinien, und Chile. Die Alben enthalten des Weiteren Reisen durch Ägypten, Jerusalem, Konstantinopel, Mittelmeer, Russland, Schweden, Schweiz, Portugal, Madeira, Kanarische Inseln, Dalmatien, (mit Panorama von Split, Fort Lorenzo und Dubrovnik), Spanien, Malta, Griechenland, sowie die Schweiz dabei auch zahlreiche photographische Panoramen der Alpen. und Norwegen (Nordkap) u.a. Darüber hinaus ausführliche Reisen durch Deutschland. Hier stechen u.a. kaum auffindbare frühe Photographien des Strandlebens des Ostseebades Zinnowitz heraus. Es findet sich auch eine umfangreiche Photodokumentation der Fabrikanlagen der Firma Heine &Co in Gröba. Steche war ein deutscher promovierter Chemiker, Unternehmer und Politiker (Nationalliberale Partei) sowie eine bedeutende Persönlichkeit der Esperanto-Bewegung. 1920 bis 1925 war er Vorsitzender des Deutschen Esperanto-Bundes. Seit 1887 war er als Chemiker und Teilhaber in der Leipziger Firma Heine & Co tätig. Das Unternehmen erlangte mit seinen ätherischen Ölen und Riechstoffen globale Bedeutung.
