With a picture of Barnum's City Hotel in Baltimore and adjacent buildings, decorative border. 26.5x10 cm (10½x4"), in old gold-painted wooden frame under glass.Rare presidential menu printed on silk, for a dinner reception for John Tyler at the elegant hotel operated by David Barnum from 1825 until his death in 1844 - it was torn down around 1890. The meal was monumental in itself, with multiple courses and side dishes, offering turtle soup; boiled salmon; leg mutton; tame ducks in olives; chicken curry a l'Indienne; roast beef; woodcock; pigeons stewed in capers; asparagus; cocoanut pudding; charlotte Russe, and more.
