A fine example of one of the most popular American “express” rifles to be produced towards the end of the 19th Century. Unlike many other rifles of the period, Winchester Model 1886 rifles were sturdy enough to make the transition to smokeless powder with only minor modifications.

Not only a go-to rifle in the late 19th Century American West, Winchester rifles were also used by the Royal Flying Corps in World War I with special incendiary rounds intended to ignite German airships. This dependable firearm would remain mostly unaltered until 1935 when Winchester introduced a modified Model 1886 (chambered for more powerful cartridges).

This rifle is fully intact and in fine condition with only very minor damage to the stock and minimal patina to the metal components, showing both honest wear and dedicated preservation.
