Description
Pre-Columbian, Northern Mexico, Chihuahua region, Casas Grandes, Ramos Polychrome type, ca. 1200 to 1450 CE. A hand-built jar of stable, round-bottomed form with a globular midsection and an everted rim. The light orange-beige exterior is decorated extensively with solid and striped panels brought forth with red and black pigment. The most exceptional Casas Grandes vessels usually have Ramos-style designs, and examples such as this show how this style required great skill and aesthetic vision. Size: 6.80" Diameter x 5.9" H (17.3 cm x 15 cm)
