Fritz Schaper (1841 - 1919) - a statue of Bismarck in Cuirassier UniformBronze, brown patina, the base with the artist's signature "F. Schaper fec." and foundry signature "Aktien=Gesellschaft vorm. H. Gladenbeck u. Sohn". Standing, bareheaded figure of Bismark in the long coat of the Cuirassier Regiment "von Seydlitz" No. 7, with tall spurred boots, his left hand resting on a pallash. Very realistic portrayal, finely preserved details. Traces of use and age. Overall height 54 cm. The figure is a miniature version of the Bismarck statue made in 1879 that was erected in front of the casino at the Augustinerplatz in Cologne.Fritz Schaper was one of the most famous sculptors of the German empire, member of the Prussian Academy of Arts and Knight of the Prussian Order Pour le Mérite. He was a professor at the Berlin Art Academy from 1880 to 1890.Condition: II +
