Description
A black parade cuirass M 1897 for enlisted men in the Garde du Corps Regiment, in the issue of 1912 onwardsDepot piece. The front and back section made of black lacquered sheet steel (partially abraded, rough in places due to age), the edges trimmed in red woollen cord. The nickel-silver trophy of the breast shield introduced in 1912 screw-mounted on the breast. The brass scale bands with leather underlay and original belt with a brass pin buckle. Lined in fine, unbleached linen, both front and back sections with beautiful depot issue stamps "GdC, 1897, 3 E" and wearer's label stitched into the lining "Garde du Corps Holst 3. Esk. Regt. G. d. C Waffe-Nr. 111". The woollen strips that were sewn around the edges have been lost. Signs of age and wear. Exclusive cuirass in good condition.In 1897, Kaiser Wilhelm II presented the elite regiment with new, black cuirasses in an elegant design, which followed the tradition of the 1814 models.Condition: II
