A Prattware Nelson mug, circa 1800
Modelled in the form of the Admiral's head and shoulders, picked out in colours, the rim impressed 'Nelson' above a moulded band of husks, the scroll handle joining his tied pigtail, 12cm high

Two Nelson mask mugs of slightly differing form are illustrated by John and Griselda Lewis, Pratt Ware (1984), p.156. An example very closely related to the present lot is in Henry Willett's Collection of Popular Pottery, currently exhibited at the V&A.
