Description
MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET
Half Sheet (22" x 28")
Very Fine- on Paper
20th Century Fox, 1947
When released in the summer of 1947, the posters made little note of Christmas being involved. Studio head Darryl F. Zanuck insisted the film debut in the spring because more people went to the movies in the warm weather. Leading up to its May 2, 1947 release, promotions kept the Christmas aspect of the film a secret.
During restoration, airbrushing was done on the white fields and some touch-ups were made to O'Hara's face.
A cinematic treasure directed by George Seaton and starring the enchanting Maureen O'Hara, this 1947 masterpiece encapsulates the magic of Christmas through the story of a young girl's encounter with a very special department store Santa Claus. Winner of several Academy Awards, including Best Supporting Actor for Edmund Gwenn's unforgettable portrayal of Kris Kringle, this film has etched its name in the annals of film history.
This lot will be auctioned on Thursday, April 18th. The auction will begin at 9:30am PST and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. Note other lots in the auction may close on April 19th.
