en suite with the previous lot, modelled by Giuseppe Gricci, reaching into a sack, wearing a hat and cape over a long coat, 15cm high, fleur-de-lys mark in blue (restuck to base through shoes, restored chip to hat)

A polychrome version of this rare group is in the Museo Duca di Martina (inv.no. 1727) and illustrated in Angela Caròla-Perrotti, Le Porcellane dei Borbone di Napoli, Capodimonte e Real Fabbrica Ferdinandea, 1743-1806, cat.no. 106, where the author notes that there are some fundamental changes to the single model in comparison to the polychrome version, of the Pilgrim Lovers, 'i Pellegrini'. The author supposes that the single pilgrim, as other single figures of the series, may have been part of a larger ensemble or theatrical setting including groupings of multiple single figures and figure groups alike.

There is a small restored flat chip to the underside of the brim of his hat at the front, with associated overpainting.
There is a tiny nick to the edge of the brim of his hat, and anther to the edge of his cape at his right arm.
The figure was broken off the base through the shoes and is cleanly restuck (as is a section of the base); there is some associated overpainting to one side and the back edge of the base.
Otherwise in good condition.
