Very Fine Pre-Columbian Maskette Headdress. Pre-Columbian, Costa Rica, Guanacaste / Nicoya region, Age unknown. Expertly carved and string-cut from a stunning piece of variegated blue-green-cream jade, a face mask pendant presenting an expressive visage looking out with a wide-eyed countenance with visible pupils and a broad open mouth, wearing an ornate headdress. Two holes at the top sides of the headdress for wearing. Two additional holes at the bottom corners for additional decoration such as feathers or beads. Size: 2 1??4” T. 1 7/8” W.
