Description
Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A lovely mold-formed faience ushabti covered in lustrous layers of turquoise-hued glaze. The ushabti stands in mummiform atop an integral rectangular plinth, holds the symbolic pick and hoe in arms crossed atop the chest, and has a seed bag incised behind the left shoulder. The narrow countenance features almond-shaped eyes, a prominent nose, a false beard, and cupped ears beneath a simple tripartite wig. Size: 1.2" W x 4.4" H (3 cm x 11.2 cm).

Condition
Minor pitting and abrasions to legs, body, and head, with light encrustations within some recessed areas, and minor fading to areas of original glaze, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits and great traces of original glaze color throughout.
