Description
**Originally Listed At $500**

Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A mold-formed faience ushabti of a petite size that stands in mummiform atop an integral rectangular plinth. The slender figure holds an incised pick and hoe in arms crossed atop the chest, displays a seed bag incised behind the left shoulder, and shows remains of the original blue-green glaze around his head and upper body. His fragmentary face features only a singular eye and a plaited false beard, and his head is covered by a tripartite wig. A column of inscribed hieroglyphs is visible along the dorsal pillar and when translated reads, "The Osiris, the prophet of Osiris, . . . son of . . ." Size: 0.72" W x 2.84" H (1.8 cm x 7.2 cm); 3.76" H (9.6 cm) on included custom stand.

Figure is adhered to display stand with mounting adhesive. Chips to face as shown. Nicks and abrasions to plinth, obverse, head, and verso, with softening and chips to some hieroglyphs inscribed along the dorsal pillar, and heavy fading and wear to glaze pigment. Nice preservation to figural form. Hieroglyphs are still relatively legible, though some are not.
