Description
**Originally Listed At $500**

Southeast Asia, Thailand, Ban Chiang, ca. 2100 to 300 BCE. A collection of 4 ancient Thai pottery vessels; one with a red-on buff hue, a black ware vessel, and 2 exhibiting a textile pressed and stippled patterning across the body. This pottery was made by hand using a paddle and anvil to shape the profile and the 2 textured vessels were cord-marked, utilizing fibrous materials such as rope, and incised with a stylus, likely made of wood. Ban Chiang is considered by UNESCO to be the most important prehistoric settlement so far found in Southeast Asia with a vibrant pottery tradition split into 3 eras: Early (2100 to 900 BCE, Middle (900 to 300 BCE), and the Late Period (300 BCE to 200 CE). The variety here appears to represent all three eras. Size of largest: 6.5" Diameter x 5.75" H (16.5 cm x 14.6 cm)

Provenance: private Arlington, Texas, USA collection, acquired mid to late-1960s
