Published by John G. Wells, 1860. This was a book written for the common man to adhere to the current laws of the land. It contains a lot of interesting reading as things were very different in that era. Some of those things include 14 was the legal age for marriage, only white males were allowed to vote and much much more. This book was written just before the civil war. The Book contains a Constitution of the United States, interest tables, gold and silver coin tables, various laws, including horse laws, hog laws, highway laws, farm laws, naturalization laws, parent responsibility etc. Publishers original leather hardback with title plate. Overall good condition. Has some wear to the cover with separation trying to occur of the front cover from the spine. Internally very good condition. Binding is still tight and pages are all present and legible. Some notes from the first owner toward the front. 408 pgs. 6 7/8" by 4 3/4"
