Allgemeine-SS Enlisted Man's Peaked Visor Cap, in excellent condition. This fine example is constructed of black gabardine wool with matching side band, piped in white at top, and on either side of the side band. An early SS eagle and Totenkopf insignia are securely attached at the front, and are secured to the cap with what appear to be the original pins. They both bear some surface oxidation, which does not greatly detract. The cap bears a black leather chin strap in essentially new condition, affized to the cap with with two regulation round black buttons. The chinstrap rests upon the cap’s visor, which is constructed of Vulkanfiber, lacquered on the upper surface with a raised ridge along the brim, and the reverse is tan with cross-hatching and ink-stamped with SS runes and RZM approval. Within, the visor bears a diamond-shaped celluloid cover over gold SS runes. There is also a square black ink stamp containing: 'VA 1938', the date of manufacture. The leather sweatband, perforated at the front, shows genuine staining and soiling entirely consistent with use. A numbered RZM 'Tuchmutze fur SS' cloth label is affixed at the rear of the cap, behind the sweatband. The cap is stamped size '56', and the celluloid bears the owner's name on a slip of paper inserted within: 'Horn, Ino SS-Oberschrfuhrer'. In excellent condition, showing no damage of any kind outside, and within only the soiling to the sweatband as mentioned.
