Description
North Africa, Morocco, Central High Atlas Mountains, Late Cretaceous (Turonian), ca. 90 million years ago. An uncommon horned ammonite fossil from a species known as Mammites, found in the Cretaceous sediments of the Central High Atlas mountains in Morocco. This unusually large specimen is complete with fine preservation and has been excavated and prepared to stand an angle on its original stone matrix base. The shell detail is amazingly well-preserved with dramatic, heavy horn processes, and the internal leaf-pattern suture anatomy is plainly visible in areas. This is the perfect addition for any fossil marine life collection as well as a stunning and highly unique piece of natural history that can be used as interior decor!
