Flier for Milestone 1963 March on Washington

Handbill advertising the civil rights milestone event, the "March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom", held August 28, 1963, in Washington, D.C. 1p, 5.5" x 8.25". Light wear, in overall very good plus condition.

The purpose of the March on Washington was to advocate for the civil and economic rights of African Americans. At the march, final speaker Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., standing in front of the Lincoln Memorial, delivered his powerful oration, "I Have a Dream", in which he called for an end to racism. The march was nationally televised and shone a light on Jim Crow laws and widespread unemployment. One of the capstone moments of the Civil Rights Movement, the March on Washington led to the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
